HUL366 : Biological psychology

Course content is organised systematic, ordered approach in a chapter-wise manner. Chapter 1 covers biological approach to behaviour from an evolutionary perspective. Chapter 2, 3, 4 and 5 provide a comprehensive understanding from the nervous system to the brain-behaviour link inclusive of lobes and cognitive functions, and how it related with the shaping, regulating of behaviour. It also covers research methods and approaches that helped understand brain and behaviour. Chapter 6 and 7 illustrate sensory process (e.g., visual, auditory, taste). Chapter 8 and 9 introduces control of movement, inclusive of motor learning, action planning, states of consciousness, waking states and sleep stages. Chapter 10, 11 and 12 held us understand the state of hunger, thirst, and states of emotions, stress. Chapters 13, 14 build an understanding of learning and memory and language as cognitive functions. The course titled, Biological Psychology utilises a classic textbook to introduce simple and complex behaviour as a result of the intersection of biological and psychological states, enabling an enriched understanding of the behaviour. HUL370: Selected Topics in psychology 3 Credits (3-0-0) Allocation Preferences: HUL261, HUL265, HUL267 The course will introduce students to selected topics in Psychology as decided by the instructor.
