HSL687 : Introduction to Medical Humanities
[edit]Course Contents: This course will focus on the different conceptions of “health” and “illness”; approaches to the body, ability and disability; traditions of medicine and healing; medicine and society; biologization of medicine, medicalization of the body; Psyche, body, psychoanalysis; Bioethics; approaches to practitioners, patients and the clinic; health infrastructure, public health and governmentality; health and gender; nutrition, poverty and social justice; agency, self-hood, personhood, responsibility.
