HSL654 : Ideas of Freedom
[edit]This course will focus on the following topics: free will, self-determination; divine freedom; human freedom as a metaphysical idea; distinguishing between freedom and liberty, Freedom of speech and expression, and censorship; freedom of conscience and law; existentialist conceptions of freedom; centrality of freedom to morality; freedom and responsibility; theorising liberty – practicing slavery; democracy and freedom.
