Fundamentals of opto-electronic image sensors, Physics, device fabrication, electronic circuits, noise sources and signal processing of: Photo detectors based on PMT, MCP : UV-Visible photo detectors, VIS-NIR Photo detectors, IR-FIR detectors, THz-detectors, Charged coupled Devices (CCD) based image sensors. Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) based image sensors. Thermal imaging camera and sensor technology, FLIR, FPA, Single photon detectors and quantum detectors, Ultra-high speed photo-detectors: TCSPC, Ultra-high speed electronic streak camera, Ultra-high speed Framing camera, Electronic circuitry for ultra-high speed camera technology, Signal and image processing tools and techniques. DSL 755 Sensing and Imaging Techniques 3 Credits (3-0-0) This course deals with multidisciplinary aspects of various sensing and imaging techniques and their applications in engineering and medicine. 1. Bio-Medical Sensing and Imaging Systems: Introduction to different imaging methodologies, Physics of various methods used in diagnostics, Properties of clinical samples and their handling mechanisms, Point of Care (PoC) diagnostic techniques and their working principles. 2. Sensing and Imaging Systems for Industrial quality control: Acoustic, radiographic, infrared, and optical imaging and sensing modalities for industrial process monitoring.3. Data Management: Acquisition and analytics, throughput vs. speed, compressive sensing, calibration procedures, validation. Various signals/Image/video processing techniques for detection and classification.
