Entrepreneurship Development Council (eDC) is a premier student-led organization at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, dedicated to fostering a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem within the institute and across India. Functioning as a comprehensive platform to inspire, mentor, and assist students, the council aims to cultivate the next generation of Indian founders by bridging the gap between innovative ideas and scalable startups. Its mission is centered on the belief that entrepreneurship is a primary driver of national growth, and it provides the necessary infrastructure for students to transition from theoretical concepts to real-world business execution. By offering a blend of mentorship, networking opportunities, and practical resources, eDC serves as a central hub for innovation and venture creation on the IIT Delhi campus.
The cornerstone of the council’s annual calendar is the Business and Entrepreneurship Conclave, commonly known as BECon. This flagship event is recognized as one of the largest entrepreneurship summits in the country, serving as a rigorous "thinking ground" rather than a traditional festival. BECon features a diverse array of segments, including the Startup Expo, Auto Expo, and the Startup Clinic, where early-stage ventures receive direct feedback and diagnostic support. The conclave also hosts the Incubator Summit and TechnoVerse, providing a stage for deep-tech innovations and institutional support systems. Through fireside chats, panel discussions, and keynote addresses, BECon brings together industry titans, venture capitalists, and student innovators to discuss the realities of growth, funding, and the uncomfortable truths of building a business from the ground up.
Competitive excellence is a core component of eDC’s programming, facilitated through high-stakes challenges and grant-based competitions. Programs such as Pitching Pursuit and Midas Touch allow students to present their business models to panels of industry experts and seasoned investors. These competitions often serve as feeders into larger regional programs like BUILD, offering successful participants significant financial grants and fast-tracked mentorship. Other notable challenges include the Two-Day CEO Challenge and the Startup Debate, which test the strategic thinking and leadership capabilities of participants under pressure. The council also hosts "Burn Rate," a unique pitching event where startups undergo intense scrutiny and "roasting" by a jury to refine their metrics and business logic, ensuring that only the most resilient ideas move forward.

The council has hosted world-renowned figures such as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Khosla Ventures founder Vinod Khosla, and various partners from Y Combinator to discuss the future of artificial intelligence and deep tech. The Dylogue Media Content Fellowship, for instance, focuses on the creator economy and the "attention economy," helping students build proof of work in digital storytelling and media. The council also addresses the burgeoning field of artificial intelligence through the AI Impact Dialogue and the India AI Impact Summit, which bring together researchers and founders to explore scalable AI solutions.
