Debating Club (DebSoc) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi serves as the primary forum for intellectual exchange, rhetorical development, and competitive argumentation within the institute. The tournament primarily follows the Asian Parliamentary Debate (APD) format, characterized by three-member teams and a rigorous adjudication process. In addition to its premier open tournament, DebSoc hosts Debutant, a flagship event specifically designed to encourage emerging talent in the debating circuit. Now in its tenth edition, Debutant enforces strict eligibility criteria, typically limiting participation to those with fewer than three open speaker breaks, thereby creating a level playing field for novice debaters. This tournament emphasizes the pedagogical aspect of the sport, often featuring a robust lineup of Invited and Subsidized Adjudicators who provide detailed feedback to participants.
