Conducted by the [[Board of Sports Activities]] (BSA), the GC pits all undergraduate [[Hostels|hostels]] against one another across thirteen sports over the course of the spring semester. The hostel that accumulates the highest aggregate score is awarded the General Championship trophy and the unofficial title of "best hostel" for the year.<br />

The competition runs through the second (spring) semester. Hostels field teams in each of the thirteen BSA-recognised sports, including:<br />

Each fixture awards points based on finishing position; the hostel with the highest total at the end of the season wins the trophy. The GC is one of the most participated-in events on campus. Hostel captains, vice-captains and ''Babloos'' (BSW representatives) actively recruit residents to play or cheer, and victory parades are held by the winning hostel at the close of the season.<br />
